The Old Man's tale Empty
PostSubject: The Old Man's tale   The Old Man's tale EmptyFri Feb 24, 2012 9:04 pm

This was a very boring late after-noon day at the tavern.
Unlike most days, they were only but few customers at the tavern.
This day, no customers were happillly singing merry songs nor were there drunk people dancing on the tables.
There were only a few people and most of them were lonesomely drinking their sorrows.
Volt was bored.

Ah! I wished there were more people. There ain't no fun today. Maybe I just just fget drunk as well''
Volt was about to pour himself a drink when a new customer entered the tavern. It was an old blastoise gijinka. He seemed lost, as he was already drunk. The old man came and took a seat on one of the bar's stools, in front of Volt
''Ain't that weird? I never seen this man before in here, I thought I already met all of Aria's alcoholics...they all rushed to the tavern on the opening day like insects would rush to a drying body...

Volt took a look at the new customer. Like most blastoise gijinkas, the old man had a massive body. He wore an eye-patch and sailor clothes. He looked nervous

''He looks like a sailor. Why doesn't he order anything...is he waiting for me or something?

- Good day, sir. Would you like to oder a drink or something?

The old man suddenly glared at Volt. A strange intensity was burning into his sole eye.

- Listen up, mate! This eye has seen many things on the big blue. Secrets that no man has ever known and terrilble thing. Th sea ain't no playground. If ye don't pay attention, ye can be eaten by sea pokémonsters or gigantic waves anytime!

'' not an other of those drunk seaman!

- So...are you gonna order a drink or something?

- Aye! I have seen many, but I have earned few! I ain't have no money for booze, but I will tell you a tale like no other if you pour me a drink!

*Sight* - So, you want me to serve you a drink for free? Your tale gotta be nice, old man...

Volt was bored, so he pourred the old Blastoise a shot of whiskey

The seaman drank his shot in one sip.

Whiskey ain't free, ye know. Are you gonna tell me your story or what

Can't I have more?

No, ye can't you drunkhole! Speak up, or get lost

Volt's tail has high up and electric arcs were running on his body. He was going to loose his patience soon

- Aright! Aright! No need to get all electrical! Young men, nowardays!...Well, listen up now, kid, cuz I will tell you only once! I may not look like it but I too once was young and fresh like ye. I'll ye, kid, about the day I lost my very eye to a sea monster, arr!''

'' this is gonna be boring...

- It was a calm day at sea. Our cargoship was running near the border of this new continent, which at the time was not known. The breeze was fresh and the sun was hot.

- How fun! A boring day at sea?! If you hope you'll get free drinks with this kind of boring stories, you'd better go and find another tavern 'cuz this Raichu will kick your sorry butt!

- What an agressive young fellow you are. I ain't finished, ye know?! Everything was calm and boring. Suddenly, one of the shipmates yelled ''a huge wake is coming our way''. We all laugthed at him, for we did not believe him. ''Yer drunk'', was all said. But he was true. A gigantic wake was coming straight to our ship. In a few minute, the blue sky turned pitch black. Lightning bolts struck our ship everywhere. It was a sudden storm! Ain't nothing like that I ever saw, arr!

- You're drunk, old man

- Aye! I am, but even though it's the truth mate! As real as I am here right now!

- Well I ain't quite sober myself so you could be an hallucination or somethin'...well anyways..finish your tale...

- Aye! there were nothing to do! We ran to the life rafts! When the tsunami hit our ship, it sank! It was taken undersea on the very momment, as it was sucked underwater o' something! A few of my mates couldn't make it to the raft! I was lucky, aye! But the worst was to come! I was in a raft, fighting the waves for my vert life when the monster came out of the sea! Real as I am here, it was gigantic! No man as ever seen something of the like, aye!

- So..was it a wild pokémon?

Ah, well, I ain't telling if you don't pour a beer!

Volt felt his anger getting stronger, yet he wanted to know the rest of the tale so he poured the old man a tankard of the cheapest ale he had from an old keg.

As the old man finished his whole tankard in a few sip, Volt could tell the man was more than your average drunkard

Look old man, I really don't mind electocuting you if you don't finish your tale right away

Volt tail was dangerously waving, as to show he was ready to thundershock the old man in the very minute.

- Ah well...it was a pokémon, yes. But not an ordinnary one. In fact, I never saw something of the like. It was somekind of...giant bird. Seamen of old used to talk about it.

Maybe it was just a big wailord you know...

The blastoise rose on his stool. His blueish faced had turned purple out of rage

It ain't was no Wailord! It had wings! And it wasn't a draconite either! It blew up my left eye in an instant!

Well...what did it do to blow up your eye?

I don't quite...remember...the strike was so strong it knocked me out on the instant...if it was not of my shipmates, I would had died.

You're sure you weren't just as drunk as now? You say saw a giant unknown flying pokémon and you would had me believe you? What more, you had me pourring you two drinks?!

- Aye, disbelief! That's it, raise your hand upon an old man or shock me if you will, Raichu! I lived too long, anyways. My only comfort is booze! But I ain't lying. I ain't! That's why I came here

- You mean, that's why you came to the tavern?

- Naw! that's why I came to Aria! I ain't senile yet. I was knock-out, true! But my mates saw what happened afterwards. The beast flew to the east! Indeed, everyone taught there were nothing in the east, so no one tried to find his nest untill now!

Volt was not very smart, yet he had began to get where the old man was going

So you mean, this gigantic monster's nest would be somewhere in Aria?

- Aye! Told ye my tale was worth hearing, haven't I? I searched the sea for the last 30 years in hope to find this monster that stole my eye! Arr! I would butcher it if I could! But now I'm too old for this! I'm just an old man, what can I do? But you are young, Raichu. You could find the monster and avenge me!

- If your monster do exist at all, that is, it may not be on Aria your know. And you say it was 30 years ago...it may be dead of old age

- Grimm words, barman! I should had gone to the explorer HQ! There maybe they would not had served me drinks nor what had they listen to me, but at least I would had found couragous lad, unlike you

Volt growled from rage

[color=red][ FINE! I AIN'T NO COWARD! I'LL GO AND FIND YOUR LIL' BIRDIE!/color]

Volt then took his shaker and a few bottles and mixted one of the cocktail he had created himself, the ElectricRat cocktail, and drank it one sip. He then yelled
- Last call ! The tavern is closed for the rest of the day! All ye finish yer drinks and begone! I have buisnesses to do!

As the customers left the tavern, Volt took his leather jacket and locked the door, then departed.

'' If this bird does exist, I'm gonna find it or I ain't a Raichu!

Volt had just stepped out of the tavern, the effect of his special cocktail started rushing in

The side effectsThe ElectricRat cocktail were so strong that Volt fell on his knee. He was already drunk.

''Gosh...this stuff is strong. I should maybe stop adding my secret ingredient. These pills doesn't go well with alcohol...''

Volt stood up and started walking. His stomach was upside down. He walked some steps, and then he saw it

As the hallucination appeared before him, Volt prepared to fight

The almighty Articuno spread his wings in front of Volt

- Articuno! I will fight thee!

As the hallucination disapeared, Volt turned around himself in search for his imaginary oppenent

He yelled to the imaginary pokémon:

-Show yourself, coward!

As the imaginary Articuno did not seem to be willing show itself again, Volt lowered his guard. Suddenly, the hallucination reappeared in front of Volt

-Here you are, birdie! I will smithe thee and avenge the old sailor!

Volt unleashed his best move, thundershock, upon the hallucination. The bolt of lightning went trough the hallucination and stroke the tavern.

'' I won''

Volt fell asleep in front of his tavern, totally drunk and buzzed. He dreamed of seamonsters and heroic sea adventures
