Explorer's Missions Ideas Empty
PostSubject: Explorer's Missions Ideas   Explorer's Missions Ideas EmptySun Mar 18, 2012 2:57 am

Okay, so our current mission setup works, but I was thinking of a way we could do things better.

Here's what I propose: Missions should be organized by Rank rather than by type, allowing it to be easier to find quests of an appropriate level. Additionally, Plot Missions would have a place separate from rank to indicate their specialty. Missions that were requested by players will fall under ranked missions, but will be marked specifically as missions completed by players.

Mission details should also improve. The quest details would look like this-

Quote :
Mission Title: A catchy title. To avoid confusion, the mission title becomes the topic of the thread when the mission is carried out.
Quest Type: The type of quest, listed below.
Location: Where the mission takes place (forum-wise)
Description: A brief note from the requester about the problem and what needs to be done. Includes name of the requester.
Conditions: The conditions that must be met to complete the mission.
Reward:The reward given for the mission. Hidden rewards may be listed as ???.

Finally, I'd like to refine the types of quests. More can be added as we come up with types of quests that aren't properly classified yet.

Quote :
Bounty: A reward is placed on the head of a Pokemon or Gijinka who has been causing trouble. The quester must end the problem, be that chasing them out or ending a life.
Collection: The quester must search out an item or items the requester seeks, and bring it back for a reward.
Exploration: A request to find information about a certain area in the widely undiscovered Airia Region. Discover the information and return to receive your reward.
Escort: Escort a person from point A to point B. You may need to solve problems and overcome obstacles along the way, ranging from dangerous paths to bandits.
Rescue: Someone has gotten lost, trapped, or captured. Bring the person back safely to claim your reward.

So, what are everyone's thoughts?

Awesome, plain awesome. It looks like you have played Mystery Dugeon a lot! I can find no problems at all, and I highly support this idea. Although that Escort may be difficult as a non-mentioned person needs to make obstacles. Or do the characters create the obstacle?

I think whit a escort, that you make the obstacles, and then the npc decides the rank considering how difficult you made it yourself.

But that's just a idea.
I like the overall idea you have, and i think it would be easier to understand then the one we have now.
(honestly i had no idea what prime hunt was until i was told)

And it does look a little like PMD ..... let's start a rescue team together xD

Although our method of executing quests is still effective, I agree that this as an improvement from our current system. It is much more organized and specific, thus hopefully ruling out any confusuion that might impede the player.

Just a two points:

> Where in the mission details will the rank be stated? Or are there going to be different threads, one for each rank, where the quest of its respected level is placed (B-ranked quests are located in a thread specifically for B-rank missions, and etc.)?

> If I may make a suggestion, perhaps in the mission details it could specify how many members could attend to the task. From what I understand, the common number is 2 members, but if it can be done in a window of time where everyone is online, I don't see why not a mission could be done with 3 (4+ is possible, but I usually find that to be overkill, waiting for everyone) people. I guess it could fall under conditions, but I personally think it deserves its own line.

All in all, I support this system, and I applaud you for coming up with it.

Moved to Suggestions and FAQ section. You posted it in the wrong section :[

It is indeed better than what I currently have. I'm not sure about the Rescue Quest Type, since very often, I actually wonder how we managed to learn this particular person got lost in said place. One person may arrive and said his friend got kidnapped or disappeared or something, but where is he? No idea!

There is just one problem: when a mission is being created the moment one asks, there isn't any pre-made Mission detail, the NPC just summarizes the mission. Thought instead, he could just pick the Mission sheet and show it to the player, I suppose.

You could have the person requesting the rescue mission wait at the explorer's hq and give out the information in detail to who ever takes the request. Or like you said earlier you could just have the NPC hand them the information in writing when they take the mission.

I guess the obstacles would be created by the NPC, and could be a whole bunch of things, like the bridge being out, a rock blocking the path, or an attack by bandits.

Oh, and I did play the Red one on Game Boy Advance, but that's not where I got the idea from.

I envision it like having a list of quests that the player can choose from, and the rankings would be headers over the quest lists. It would look something like this:

Quote :
RANK B:

Quote :
Mission Title:
Quest Type:
Location:
Description:
Conditions:
Reward:

You mean like a minimum/maximum members limit or special requirements? We could do something like that.

Well, you could consider tracking them to be a part of the mission, but often times, there are ways of knowing. For example, maybe a cave-in trapped the other person, so you can be lead to where the cave-in is at to remove rocks.

Oh yeah, if the player doesn't want one of the missions on the list, the NPC would just create a new mission sheet and show it to the player in the same format. If the player doesn't accept that one, it could be added to the quest list for other players to do.

Oh! That could work too!
